Not Your Average Flight Simulator

What you see here is a budget friendly "home cockpit experience" that takes an entirely different approach to flight simulator systems.

Using Microsoft's Flight Simulator X platform, this enclosed flight deck conforms to most aircraft interiors (see aircraft examples) while keeping the environment physically separated from the instrument panel. This has been achieved through "optimized" projection onto various planes, utilizing depth derived from the structure.

This was primarily invented to teach (and have fun) with my daughter and son, therefore the ergonomics can quickly be adjusted for a four year old or for myself at 6'4". Equipped with standard flight controls (yoke, throttle quadrant, and rudder pedals), there are no visible wires or monitors to contend with. A full sound system is hidden behind the panel which emanates sound realistically.

The simulator is comprised of sturdy materials with a lightweight shell. It has a washable interior and can be anchored to a wall or placed on a dolly. Every section of the unit is removable, so repairs or re-assembly is not a problem (see construction). The design and use of these materials is entirely original. Experimentation and "pre-visualization" began in early February 2013; finished product was completed in May 2013.
